Portand Bellydance Guild:


  • Started a lending library of equipment, (free rentals to Guildmembers,) by purchasing a Block Rocker. Currently looking into further equipment lending library purchases.

  • Organized ongoing PBG Giveaways, giving out dozens of tickets to various local shows, events and productions to our members and helping promote local productions. (March - Dec 2015)

  • Promoted our member’s businesses and events via email list of 300+ subscribers, and FB posts with 1000+ subscribers (Jan-Dec 2015)

  • Decided to have all Guild Board meetings be open to any Guildmember who would like to observe, they just need to email info@portlandbellydance.org to get the time and location of each month’s meeting beforehand. (Feb 2015)

  • Participated in the high arts festival Fertile Grounds, as part of the Groovin’ Greenhouse. Spoke to and were written up by multiple high arts publications: (Feb 2015 and again in 2016)

  • Joined the DanceWire dance community with a Organizational Membership, to better promote bellydance to the greater dance community in Portland as well as keep our members updated on their offerings, opportunities and workshops. (May 2015)

  • Held a JamBallah NW Pre-Party, including guests new to Portland and from out of town. Also maintained a guild presence at the JamBallah info booth and provided volunteers for the festival. (August, 2015)

  • Held the following Community Engagements, to promote education, discussion, and community:

    • Winter Hafla, featuring students of Rachel Brice and the Marissa Mission, live music by  Ritim Egzotik (Feb 2015)

    • Tax Talk with tax consultant Makeda Perryman (March 2015)

    • Spring Hafla, featuring students of Gypsy Heart and Henna, live music by the Caravan Project Band (April 2015)

    • Producer’s Round Table, an open discussion led by a panel of local producers (May 2015)

    • Summer Hafla, featuring students of Ashley Lopez and Jewels, live music by Hurqalya (July 2015)

    • Hosted a Vintage Bellydance Movie Night and discussion, organized and led by Maia (Aug 2015)

    • With Professor Lisa George, we started the first in a series of discussions on cultural appropriation. (Sept 2015)

    • Hafla-ween featuring students of Souzana and Maia, live music by Al-Farasha (Oct 2015)

    • Crafters gathering and social (Dec 2015)

  • Hosted a Pro Dancer Meet Up to discuss current issues and performance fees and bring dancers together. (September, 2015)

  • Appeared on Good Day Oregon to promote Haflaween! (October, 2015)

  • Organized performances/tables at the following neighborhood faires/festivals, to promote visibility of bellydance to the general public, and promote our members by handing out fliers and cards for their businesses and dance presence,:

    • Division/Clinton St Fair

    • Columbia-Willamette Pagan Pride

    • Multnomah Days Parade

  • Tabled/established a presence at at the following bellydance festivals, to promote visibility of the Guild, promote our members by handing out fliers and cards for their businesses and dance presence, and to talk to our community to find out how we can better serve them:

    • Reigning Down on Oregon

    • Portland Mid-East Camp

  • Created an online member directory to advertise our professional members to the public, and digital resource library for members
